As a Shift Supervisor, you will be a key member of our management team, ensuring that every guest receives top-notch service while leading your team with enthusiasm and professionalism. Previous experience in a high-volume restaurant is preferred, but we’re open to motivated individuals eager to take the next step in their career.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service Excellence: Ensure guest satisfaction by coordinating with all departments to meet service expectations. Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and motivate staff, ensuring adherence to company policies and fostering professional growth. Lead by example, enforcing the company’s mission, core values, vision, and ethics.
  • Operational Oversight: Assist with inventory control, monitor portion control for food and beverages, and oversee in-house promotions. Help manage cash and charge purchases at the end of each meal.
  • Training & Development: Train and orient new employees, providing ongoing support and feedback to develop staff through reviews, training, and motivation.
  • Employee Relations & Safety: Ensure a positive and safe work environment for all employees, addressing any issues promptly.

Qualifications:

  • 21 years or older
  • Prior experience in high-volume restaurant management is preferred
  • ServSafe Manager and Alcohol certifications required
  • CPR certification required within 90 days
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Skills:

  • Strong communication (oral and written)
  • Excellent customer service, diplomacy, and professionalism
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to manage and resolve conflicts efficiently

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a high-volume, multi-location restaurant is highly preferred
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed

Summary

The Kitchen Staff positions including line cooks, prep cooks, and banquet cooks are for Southwick’s Zoo, Galliford’s Restaurant & Tavern, and the Wild Events Department. This position would be primarily responsible for prepping and executing event catering menus in the Banquet Kitchen. They would also be responsible for the food preparation in the Galliford’s Restaurant & Tavern while always ensuring superior quality and consistency. This position reports to the Chef in the Restaurant, as well as the Director and VP of the Food & Beverage Department. Competitive pay based on experience, these positions are available now for the upcoming 2023 Southwick’s Zoo season.

Duties

  • Responsible for day-to-day operations in the kitchens
  • Follow the recipes in accordance with the business’s operating standards for various events scheduled.
  • Maintain inventory control procedures and ensure that the kitchen is stocked with specific tools, supplies, and equipment to meet the operating and business demands.
  • Able to execute multiple banquet functions.
  • Able to help with cooking and food preparation
  • Able to perform other duties as assigned by the management.

Requirements

  • Recommended 2- or 3-year degree from an accredited university in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a kitchen preferred
  • Knowledge of current and updated culinary trends
  • Open availability, nights and weekends necessary
  • Willing to train the right candidates
